Design
Guided by Light & Material
Architecture & Spatial Design Studio
Atelier Sonjae blends rigorous daylight research with low‑impact timber and earth construction, documenting every step in handcrafted journals.
Methodology: Light First, Material Second
We begin each project with a daylight study that informs massing, orientation, and fenestration. Once the light strategy is set, we select locally sourced timber and rammed earth, emphasizing craft, sustainability, and tactile quality. Throughout construction we produce a journal that records decisions, challenges, and moments of discovery, turning each build into a narrative artifact.

From Sketch to Journal
Our process is transparent and iterative.
1. **Daylight Modeling** – We simulate solar angles and interior illumination. 2. **Material Exploration** – Timber joints and earth mixes are prototyped on‑site. 3. **Design Development** – Plans evolve alongside the journal, capturing every decision. 4. **Construction & Documentation** – The build is executed with craft‑focused teams, and the journal records the story for future reference.
